What is Chiropractic?

large_cervical_lumbar-150x150Chiropractic is the art, science and philosophy of diagnosing and treating misalignments of the spine.  These misalignments are called vertebral subluxations.  Chiropractors are concerned with the relationship between the structure ( primarily the spine), and function (primarily coordinated by the nervous system), of your body and how that relationship affects your health.  X-rays are performed to the affected areas to determine the location of these misalignments.  A broad range of techniques are used to locate analyze and correct vertebral misalignments.  Techniques used are manual adjustments known as manipulations, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound and massage.  Chiropractic treatment never involves drugs or surgery,  it is, however,  a natural form of health care that uses manipulation of the bones of the spine in order to restore the proper function of the nervous system thus helping your body heal naturally.
